Q: I’ve never seen anything like this before. How does it all work?
A: This is by far the most common question we get asked, so we designed a page just to show you! Please visit our How It Works page.
Q: There’s no size choice on the shop. How do I choose my size?
A: Don’t worry. All of our clothing is made to your own measurements. Once you checkout your order, we will send you a measurements pack in the post straight away, with full instructions on how to provide us with your personal measurements. For more information, please visit our How It Works section.
Q: What is your size range?
A: There isn’t one! Because everything is made to measure, we can make our line in any size you require, as long as you provide us with your measurements. For more information on our process, please see our How It Works section.
Q: I’m a different size on my top half to my bottom half. Is that a problem?
A: Absolutely not! Our whole range is made to your own measurements. We use the measurements you provide us with to create your pattern from scratch in our studio.
Q: I’ve placed an order. How long will it take to arrive?
A: That’s a little difficult to answer, because first we need your measurements. Once you’ve checked out online, we put together a beautiful measurements pack and send it out to you within 2 working days (although we do aim for 24 hours). Once you receive your pack and return your measurements to us in the envelope provided, we will send you a confirmation that we have them and an updated delivery time. Typically your order will arrive within 6-8 weeks of us receiving your measurements, although it may be shorter or longer depending on our workload. For busy periods such as Christmas/Prom season, we recommend you order 10+ weeks in advance where possible, although we can do some rush orders for an extra cost.
Q: I need my order sooner than 6-8 weeks. Can you help?
A: Usually, yes. We do produce rush orders from time to time for an extra charge. If you need your order faster than our typical 6-8 week (plus measurement delivery) time frame, please contact us directly at katie@katherinedavidson.co.uk and we will do our best to fit you in for your required time frame. Please note that as we produce everything made to measure, the absolute minimum turn-around time we have is 2 weeks.
Q: I’m a returning customer. Can you use my measurements from my last order?
A: Yes, if you’re happy for us to do so. When you place your order you will see a drop-down selection for returning customers with the same measurements. If you choose this option, we won’t send out a full measurement pack, just your fabric samples, contract and receipt. Before we do that, we’ll double check we have all the measurements we need for your new order – we may ask for a couple of extras depending on what you’ve ordered previously.
Q: I’m a returning customer but my measurements have changed from my last order.
A: That’s OK too! When you place your order you will see a drop-down selection for returning customers with the different measurements. If you choose this option, we will send out a measurement pack just like last time!
Q: Do you do offers/discount codes?
A: Yes. Please check out our Offers page for more information on our standard offers (which include discounts for multiple item orders). We also send out some discount codes at our launch events, and run competitions on our social media accounts. If you’d like to keep up to date with our offers, please join our mailing list.
Q: Are the dresses easy to put on? Can I put it on by myself?
A: It’s certainly not impossible to put on most of our products by yourself, but as with most eveningwear, it’s handy to have a little help nearby when getting dressed in our products. The Emareldi dress in particular has a built in corselette which fastens separately to the dress with hooks and eyes (much like a longline bra). The dress zip fastens directly over the top.
Many of our products fasten via a rear zip, so whilst it’s possible to dress yourself, it may take a little squirming, so we recommend having a helping hand around!
Q: I’d like something that’s not on your website. Can I have something custom designed/made?
A: Of course! We like to be unique in our approach to fashion, and we understand that our customers do to! If you’ve seen something on our site that you like, we can alter it, or we can design you something new from scratch. If you’re interested in having something custom designed, please contact our designer, Katie directly at katie@katherinedavidson.co.uk to discuss it. Please note that custom designs do incur an extra charge (you will be given a quote prior to manufacture) but you will not be charged for asking!
Q: I’ve found a product that I like but I prefer a fabric from another. Can you make products in different fabrics to those listed?
A: That depends on the exact combination you’d like (some fabrics don’t work well with certain garments), but we can certainly discuss it! Get in touch with our designer, Katie directly at katie@katherinedavidson.co.uk. Please note that this service may incur an extra charge (details will be discussed prior to manufacture) as a custom order.
Q: Can I wear items from the collection without an Emareldi foundation dress?
A: Yes, of course. We design the clothes, but there are no hard and fast rules on how to wear them – in fact, we love seeing how you style your items!
However, please note that as the collection is designed to be worn with the Emareldi dress, a number of our products are sheer or semi-sheer, and will need to be worn over a foundation garment of some sort.
Q: Do you have a discount scheme for repeat orders?
A: We do. We like to reward our customers’ loyalty! As well as our standard offers, if you re-order the same dress in a different fabric (for example, having previously ordered an Emareldi dress in black, a customer may order one in tan) with the same measurement profile as last time, we can reuse your pattern, and therefore save ourselves some time, and you some money!

Q: What if my dress doesn’t fit when I receive it?
A: We hope you don’t, but on the off chance that you have any problems with your order, don’t hesitate do get in touch directly, and we will do our best to come to an agreement. The best way to do that is by emailing us at katie@katherinedavidson.co.uk. We’ll get back to you within 24 hours.
Q: Will it look good on me despite me being short/tall/skinny/curvy/etc.?
A: We believe so, but obviously, you know your own body better than anyone else does, and you know what you feel comfortable wearing. Your own personal style is up to you, and we won’t try to tell you how to dress!
What we can say is that everything in our line is made to measure, so you don’t need to worry about sizing issues when shopping with us.
Q: Are your products made to be a specific length on a person? Can they be altered?
A: Yes, and yes! Each of our products is made to your own measurements. They are designed and manufactured automatically to fit your height (for example, the Emareldi dress should sit just above your knee, no matter what height you are). However, if you’d like to lengthen/shorten any of our garments from their original form, please contact our designer, Katie directly at katie@katherinedavidson.co.uk to discuss a custom option at an extra charge.
Q: If I gain/lose weight can your products be altered?
A: Because our line is made to your measurements, most of our products will stand up to a little weight fluctuation, without alterations. However, depending on which product(s) you own, alterations may or may not be possible. If an alteration is possible, an extra charge will be incurred to cover time and postage. Depending on where you live, it may be preferable to visit a local seamstress.
Our Emareldi dresses are made in stretch scuba, so will adapt to up to 2cm gain/loss at each measurement. Many of our products cut in sequin or beaded fabrics are non-alterable due to the way in which the patterns are matched to be made up.

Q: What inspired the line?

Q: Where can I buy your products?
A: Currently our made to order products are available exclusively from us, right here. Because our line is made to measure for our customers, all orders come through designer, Katie.
We also have our Etsy shop, which is full of all sorts of goodies, including limited edition items, one-offs and our fabulous sample sale, where we sell off all our sample made items for 50% of the RRP.

Q: Can I see your products in person before I buy online?
A: Because our line is made to order, we currently do not have any external stockists. However, we do put on and attend events throughout the year where it is possible to see our products. In addition, when you place an order with us, we do send out fabric samples within your measurements pack, so you can see your fabrics before we make them into your items!
Q: What makes your line unique?
A: At Katherine Davidson, we pride ourselves on being different. We don’t use the standard formulas for fashion – we do what works! All our items are made to your own measurements, which ensures that the whole range fits perfectly. It takes a little time but we promise it’s worth it!
